Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute
National Center for Seed and Cultivar Studies — one of the oldest and most influential breeding institutions in Ukraine. Odesa, part of NAAS.
The institute traces its history to the Experimental Field of 1895, with the breeding department organised in 1912. Over 114 years the Odesa breeding school has created hundreds of crop varieties and hybrids.
Today the institute is a NAAS coordination center for seed systems and crop genetics, conducting research in molecular genetics, biotechnology and breeding of adaptive varieties.

Wheat breeding
Zemka, Kooperatorka, Stepnyachka, Odeska 3 — varieties grown on vast areas in the post-war years.
Barley breeding
Pallidum 32 and Odeskyi 17 — the first winter barley of the southern region.

Odeska 10, Odeskyi 23 — hybrids sown on millions of hectares.
